Protecting Our Client’s Pharmacy in Sunderland

We were recently instructed by a pharmacy contractor to oppose two (and at one stage, three) new contract application in Sunderland. The applications were submitted due to the closure of a Lloyds pharmacy that had been located in the local medical centre. The Applicants argued that a new pharmacy was required to provide a reasonable choice to patients and that our client’s pharmacy being busy was evidence of a lack of reasonable choice. We were able to successfully defend against all these application at both the NHS England stage and subsequent appeals.
