New Pharmacy for Heswall and Pensby Group Practice

Moving a pharmacy into a GP surgery sounds simple, especially when it is fairly close by already, but often the GP practice will be in a residential area and neighbours can be concerned about the impact of the pharmacy on their residential area.

For the past 18 months we have been working with the Heswall and Pensby Group practice to do exactly this. Early in the process local councillors and residents expressed their concerns about the project and argued that planning permission for A1 use and strict conditions would be necessary before the project could proceed. We advised the practice that there were better ways of dealing with the concerns of neighbours and councillors and that a planning application was not in fact required.

We met with local residents, councillors, pharmacy operators and the practice and were able to secure a solution that everybody was happy with. We are pleased to say that the pharmacy opened for business in June 2015.
